2011 wrap up - THE YEAR THAT WENT PEAR SHAPED.......

Girls Pants

Sierra's Print

My daughter did this awesome print onto a t-shirt at school. I want to steal it and print it on something...tea towels maybe...

New style summer dresses

Here are the finished photos of the new summer style dresses. Both are in a great really light weight indigo denim. It is soft and drapes and perfect for summer. There is a wrap style dress and another with a frill sleeve.

Photoshoot

I was attempting to take some photos of the new style dresses and my dog Cookie just kept crashing the photoshoot. He was posing so nicely, determined to be in the shots. He's such a diva........

No good can come from turning 40

otherwise known as the year that went pear shaped

Hello there, long time no blog posts.......
Yes , that is an x-ray of my leg and the permanent souvenirs that I brought back from Peru inside it.
As you may know if you have seen me at a market lately after taking months off , I have spent 6 months in a wheelchair and the last month hopping around in a cam boot recovering further from breaking my ankle/leg. I have had to have surgery 3 times and then was expected to spend months with my foot up above my heart recovering, which basically means doing nothing , no driving , no sewing ( as i need my foot for the pedal )no working, no anything much really. I probably should of spent the time blogging but I felt like I had nothing to blog about, I was so bored.
In hindsight it has been a time of real personal growth for me and I now feel so grateful for what I have, a real appreciation of my health. But before my accident I did actually have an exciting time and I thought I would share a couple of photos with you. I look very tanned and happy for someone in an ambulance don't I.....

So, it all started with turning 40 ( no good can come of it )
I decided to go on an adventure to mark the occasion , and went to South America with my best friend. We had an amazing time in the Galapagos Island , which is a true remaining paradise , and even though it is sooooo far away i would recommend anyone that can to go and experience it. The people are so relaxed and friendly and so is the wildlife. It is truly a life changing place.

I spent my birthday jumping off a private boat, snorkelling with sealions and pulling up to deserted islands. We then had mojtios at a seaside bar watching the sunset arrr......before you get too jealous remember i came home in a wheelchair.......

After Equador, we went back to Peru, and took in some local craft with traditional spinning dying and weaving of llama fleece, and i got to do some shopping at market stalls rather than the normal selling.

Then we set off to do the Inca trail trek to macchu piccu , and on the first day of the trek I fell and broke my ankle. Below is the only photo of me on the trek , I fell about two hours later. My fit friend Tess is all thumbs-up while I am already doing a thumbs-down sign due to the altitude and it being such hard trekking. Little do I know how much more thumbs-down it is going to get when I have to get back down with a broken leg!

The whole adventure holiday really did end up being a life changing experience, even if it was not in the way i was expecting.

Introducing

----s-e-a-m---s-t-i-t-c-h-----

Exciting news, I am about to start making a women's clothing line and I will be selling it for the first time at the Autumn/Winter FINDER'S KEEPER'S market at docklands.
While its not really anything like my RETROBUB children's clothing, it is similar in that i will be using lots of beautiful, designer quilting fabrics to add details to otherwise classically styled basic garments. I want clothing to be easy to wear and to fit into the niche in the market for women that don't  need to dress professionally but don't really want to dress casually either, they want something in between.I think a lot of people fit into this area, such as mums and those of us that work from home or in a more casual environment.Really, it is an extension of the clothing that I make for myself.

Apron Skirts

I have made another batch of my apron doily skirts to take to Yarraville festival and Piccadilly market. This time I have gone for a combo of my retro, colourful fabrics for the patchwork and they have come out just adorable.

Birdy smock tops
another batch of tops ready for the market, all I have to do now is iron them and hang them up ( I hate that part........)

Merry Christmas
I managed to get around to putting these cookie jars together as presents for my friends. They have all the ingredients for the cookies you just add milk and an egg. Got into the spirit and spent a little time on the computer playing with fonts to come up with some labels as well, which I think really makes them into a gift.
